The Photographers’ Bar is achieved by those photographers achieving high professional standards as assessed by the Guild of Photographers. And I’m delighted to have achieved this level for my photographs of the natural world.
Judged by experts
Throughout the year I have been entering images, 21 in total, to an expert panel of highly regarded photographers. Each image is judged against professional standards covering matters such as impact, presentation, technical excellence, creativity, composition and style and judged as a complete image, not just individual elements of an image. Images that are worthy of being recognised as being of a good professional standard are Classified. However only those images that are considered to be of a strong standard at a national competition level are awarded points towards the awarding of the Bar. Those images are awarded either Bronze, Silver or Gold.
Only the Best get awards
Gold recognises images of particular distinction and is very rarely awarded. Silver recognises images that are very well crafted, and is difficult to achieve. Bronze images are of a strong standard at a national competition level and images to be proud of. Gold, Silver and Bronze images are awarded points which count towards the achievement of the Photographers’ Bar. And the Bar can be achieved in the separate categories of these types of Photography: Wedding, People, Pets, Newborns Babies and Children, and The Natural World. There is an Open category for all other genres.
It was a delight to achieve the Bar in the Natural World category. My goal is to reach that standard in another category in 2021. It is also just amazing that one of my images has been listed as one of the top 10 landscape images submitted in 2020.
The images which gained Bronze or Gold Standard are shown in this gallery. I did not get a Silver Award. If you’d like to know more about any image or to order a print, or to request a commission, please get in touch with me through the Contact Page or on +447973 507509
